Business Card Strategy

Putting Your Best Foot Forward

Business cards can often be the first impression you make on a prospective Client. Put your best foot forward. Even if you don’t have the funds for a logo, your business deserves a unique look. Someone looking at your card should know a few things immediately: your name, your company’s name, what you do, where you’re located and how to contact you.

Business cards are a standard size (3.5″ x 2″) so that they fit into most wallets. However, you are not limited to the amount of information that will fit in that space. Perhaps you’d like to add a photo of a few products you sell, or you provide a service that is by appointment only, you can use the back of your business card as an appointment card. If you really like to pack things with information, or if you don’t like things to look busy, you can try a business card that folds. This will give you 4 times the space of a typical business card.

Many online printers offer templates that you can choose from. You pick a style with or without an image, type in your information and who-laah, business card is created for you… and for a few million other people with that same design, regardless of which business you may be in. Obviously as a designer, that would not be my first recommendation.

Business Card for The Carriage HouseI designed this logo and business card for a local florist who was opening a separate location where brides could sit surrounded by options they would choose from for their wedding.

The owner wanted a Cinderella-type carriage to convey the feeling of that special Bride’s day. The type is fun and playful. The flowers under the carriage are a clear representation of what the business is about.

Whichever way you go, do your best to have a business card that makes a statement about you.
